To design a seamless and enjoyable dine-in experience at McDonald’s, reduce waiting time in queue, and to inform customers regarding health facts of food at McDonald’s.
To identify the challenges for building a good dine-in experience, I have visited several competitors, sketched user flow, and studied their strengths and weaknessess.
- Too many options-they're slowing me down;
- Cannot just get what I always get;
- I want to switch food items.
- Waiting is too boring.
This project provided me a great opportunity to study Google's material design. I have explored light, surface and movement of layers containing different information, and the visual hierachy created by the use of shadows.
Happy Meal Audience
New menu is cleanly categorized and presented with "cards". When user interacts with the card, it expands, showing meal content, type and price. User may have the option to view his / her order history and most frequently ordered items.
Customize your meal.
Efficiency is key. The ordering app limits number of items you can swap in the customization section, so that people don't end up spending too much time deciding what to eat. Price is updated in real time so you are always informed.
No more standing in line. Simply pay within the app.
Waiting is fun.
The app tells you an estimated wait so you can coordinate your time better. Play a leisure game, or even order a song to play at the restaurant.
